[pharmacological action] this product is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, which is effective for most gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative bacteria, and also effective for the coccidiasis and toxoplasma. Sulfadiazine ACTS on dihydrofolate synthase, which interferes with the first step of folate synthesis. Methoxyl benzyl totally belong to antibacterial synergist, folic acid ACTS on the synthesis of the second step, selective inhibition dihydrofolate reductase role, so the two together can produce synergy, can make the bacteria folic acid metabolism by double block, enhanced antibacterial effect. The effects of sulfa drugs can be metabolized into drugs such as procaine and tetracaine.
